A visit to Albuquerque

It’s been a week into a new adventure of living a digital lifestyle during the covid pandemic. Week 1, where did I choose, well no other than the city of Breaking Bad, and as someone who only started watching the show while in Albuquerque it makes complete sense right.

Well as per request, and really for my own good. I am taking time to reflect on the week and maybe at the end of this journey there will be some life affirming or altering truth bombs that will fall out … let’s see!

Okay, in this past week. One of the biggest challenges I anticipated to tackle was being alone. To my surprise, the thought of being alone had floated in my head and then left. I chose not to keep thinking about being alone, and instead focus on what i could control. I went out for an adventure, got in the car and went for a hike . I hiked among petroglyphs made by Pueblo native people about 1300 years ago. It was crazy to realize that these symbol and artwork stood the test of time for people like us to bear witness so many years after they were created. Makes you realize just how connected we are as humans, we are all looking for ways to connect.

The challenge that I do continue to face is self managing how much I work. This can be exacerbated when I am living by myself or without “distractions” … my brain goes well, “what else are you going to do”, which let me tell you is not a good reason to do it. I know this to be true as my body gravely disagrees with my brain its just a delayed disagreement. The hope is with time and continued practice, self management will become easier. Because let’s be real, things are always going to be busy, and you just have to continue to reprioritize and likely just let shit go otherwise your sanity will go.

In addition to the challenges, I want to take time to also note what I am grateful for:

  1. Being out in nature, especially with the sun shining
  2. Experience the beauty and landscape of the US
  3. Meeting old friends and random strangers. You never know who may come into your life or when, but its great to learn about someone’s story and to share your own. Perhaps another nod to connecting.
  4. Technology and the ability to continue to connect with friends and family even when you aren’t in the same location
